An act passed by the Kentucky General Assembly and approved February 22, 1836, established the compensation of members of the legislature at $3.00 per day and 12 ½ cents per mile for travel to and from the seat of government. Also, approved the same day was an act to set the salary of the governor at $2,500 per year.
