It was not until 1882 that African Americans were allowed to serve on juries in Kentucky. This occurred with an act approved on January 26, 1882, “to amend chapter 62 of the General Statutes, by striking out the word ‘white’ in articles 1 and 3, prescribing qualifications of grand and petit juries.”
