Recognizing the growing importance of the automobile, the General Assembly passed a new act, approved March 23, 1920, regulating the use and operation of vehicles on the public highways. This act included provisions for motor-vehicle registration and licensing of vehicle operators. The fee for registration of passenger vehicles was set at 60 cents for each unit of horsepower of the vehicle, $10 for motorcycles, $22 for a 1000-pound truck, etc.
