Carolyn Conn Moore

When the Kentucky General Assembly convened in 1950, the Kentucky Senate for the first time in its history had a female member. In November 1949, Carolyn Conn Moore of Franklin had won a special election to fill the seat previously held by her recently deceased husband. By joint resolution, approved March 25, 1950, the General Assembly provided that a plaque be placed “on the desk occupied by Mrs. J. Lee Moore, the first woman member in the Senate of the Commonwealth of Kentucky.”
