201 KAR 46:030.Education for medical imaging technologists, advanced imaging professionals, nuclear medicine technologists, radiographers, and radiation therapists.

Section 1.

Curricular Standards for Medical Imaging, Radiation Therapy, Radiography, Nuclear Medicine, and Advanced Imaging Programs. Educational programs shall ensure:

(1)

Radiography and radiation therapy programs meet the curricular standards established by the American Society of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT);

(2)

Nuclear medicine programs meet the curricular standards established by the Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging Technologists Section (SNMMITS); and

(3)

Programs maintain accreditation by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology, the Joint Review Committee on Educational Programs in Nuclear Medicine Technology, or other accrediting agencies recognized by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), which have been approved by the board.

Section 2.

Student Employment Outside the Academic Clinical Setting. A student shall not be employed in the operation of radiation-producing equipment or the administration of ionizing radiation for the purpose of medical imaging or radiation therapy in Kentucky.
