THE COMMITTEE CONSIDERED THE FOLLOWING REQUESTS:
POSTSECONDARY EDUCATION: Terry Pruitt discussed a request for exemption for approximately one hundred-fifty contracts for adult education services totaling approximately thirty million dollars, and a request for exemption for all Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Program (GEAR UP) grants agreements totaling approximately 2.1 million dollars. Senator Scorsone made a motion to approve the exemption. Representative Crenshaw seconded the motion, which passed without objection.
KENTUCKY COMMUNITY AND TECHNICAL COLLEGE SYSTEM:
David Holcomb, Beverly Haverstock, and Cam Cantrell discussed a request for exemption from Committee Policy Statement #99-1, relating to the maximum rate schedule for legal services for Frost Brown Todd, 268, from a maximum of $125 per hour to $175 per hour because of the knowledge and ongoing relationship of attorney Sheryl Snyder with KCTCS issues. Senator Gibson made a motion to approve the exemption. Senator Stine seconded the motion, which passed with Representative Crenshaw and Senator Scorsone electing to abstain and Senator Tori and Representative Yonts voting NO.

Senator Stine made a motion to declare existence of a conflict of interest by Co-Chair Representative Yonts because the Office of the Attorney General employs his daughter. Senator Gibson seconded the motion, which passed with Representative Crenshaw and Senator Scorsone voting NO. Senator Stine assumed the chair during the following discussions.
