HB 297/LM/CI (BR 1351) - S. Westrom
AN ACT relating to juvenile justice.
Create, amend, and repeal numerous sections of KRS Chapters 600, 610, 630, 635, and 645 and other statutes to replace the terms "status offense" and "status offender" with either the term "child in need of services" or "children in need of services" as appropriate and define procedures for dealing with children in need of services; specify that a child in need of services is a child who commits an act that would not be a criminal offense if committed by an adult, such as truancy or running away from home.
HB 297 - AMENDMENTS
HCS/CI - Retain original provisions to replace the term "status offense" with the term "a child in need of services" and delete all new language relating to court procedures for and detention of a child in need of services; delete repeal of KRS 610.250, 630.110, and 630.130.
