HB 318/AA (BR 837) - T. Feeley, B. Buckingham

     AN ACT relating to retirement.
     Amend KRS 61.637 to delete the provision that a person retired from a hazardous position who draws his or her retirement and then holds an elected city or county office may chose to continue to receive his or her pension and not contribute to the elected office's retirement system.

HB 318 - AMENDMENTS


     HFA (1, J. Reinhardt) - Allow members retired from hazardous service who began service in an elected city or county office between July 15,1998, and the effective date of this Act, and who did not contribute to the County Employees Retirement System for the elected position to decide, within 60 days of the effective date of this Act, whether to participate in CERS or not for the elected service; allow those who do choose to participate to be able to buy the service between July 15, 1998, and the effective date of this Act.
     SFA (1/AA, W. Blevins) - Retain provisions of the bill and authorize that a member of the retirement system may purchase time as a District Court trial commissioner on a month for month basis.
     SFA (2, W. Blevins) - Amend KRS 61.510(5) to include a District Court Trial Commissioner in the definition of "employee."
