HB 350 (BR 1103) - A. Arnold

     AN ACT relating to elections.
     Amend KRS 118.025(3) to change primary from the first Tuesday after the fourth Monday in May to the first Tuesday after the third Monday in May; amend KRS 118.025(7) to provide that schools shall be closed for primary, as well as regular, elections; amend KRS 118.561 to change presidential preference primary from the first Tuesday after the fourth Monday in May to the first Tuesday after the third Monday in May; amend KRS 158.060 and 158.070 to conform.

HB 350 - AMENDMENTS


     HCS - Amend KRS 118.025(3) to change primary from the first Tuesday after the fourth Monday in May to the first Tuesday after the third Monday in May; amend KRS 118.561 to change presidential preference primary from the first Tuesday after the fourth Monday in May to the first Tuesday after the third Monday in May.
     SFA (1, W. Blevins) - Adds a new section to KRS Chapter 6 to require any member of the General Assembly that changes his or her party affiliation after their election to office, shall forfeit that office and immediately resign; provide that if the member fails to resign their office they shall be subject to an action to prevent usurpation of the office; require a special election to be held and allow the person that changed their party affiliation to be eligible for election into that vacant seat under their new political party affiliation.
     SFA (2, W. Blevins) - Adds a new section to KRS Chapter 6 to require any elected political officer that changes party affiliation after election to office to forfeit that office and immediately resign; provide that if the member fails to resign office, the member shall be subject to an action to prevent usurpation of the office; require a special election to be held and allow the person that changed party affiliation to be eligible for election into that vacant seat under new political party affiliation.
     SFA (3, D. Williams) - Retain change of presidential preference primary to first Tuesday after third Monday in May; amend KRS 118.025 to change the primary to the first Tuesday after the third Monday in August; amend KRS 83A.045, KRS 118.165, and 118A.060 to change the primary filing deadline to 55 days before the August primary; amend various sections of KRS Chapters 117, 118, and 118A to change deadlines or dates for drawing for ballot position, ballot certification, notice of need for supplemental paper ballots, ballot printing, a gubernatorial runoff primary, and request for a recanvass of votes.
