AN ACT relating to animal control.
Amend KRS 258.095 to define "designated license facility"; amend KRS 258.119 to clarify that the Animal Control and Care Fund may receive state appropriations, and change the uses for which the fund may spend moneys; amend KRS 258.135 to allow designated license facilities to sell dog licenses, collect license fees, and be recompensed for doing so, and to change the date for the fees to be sent to the Department of Agriculture from monthly to quarterly; amend KRS 258.185 to change the date of reporting license sales from monthly to quarterly; amend KRS 258.215 to change the holding period for impounded dogs from seven days to five days; repeal KRS 258.121; provide that any money remaining in the Animal Shelter Trust Fund be transferred to the Animal Control and Care Fund; and make technical corrections.
HB 358 - AMENDMENTS
HFA (1, S. Nunn) - Amend KRS 258.119 to specify that the need of the applicant be considered when distributing money for training; amend KRS 258.215 to require animal shelters without regular hours of operation to post their location, hours of operation, and contact person in the newspaper.
SCS/LM - Retain provisions of the original bill; require a dog that has been seized to be impounded for a period of 5 or 7 days to be determined by the local animal shelter, and require posting of the impoundment period by a shelter that does not have regular hours of operation.
