HB 397 (BR 1699) - J. Bruce, J. Adams, B. Yonts
AN ACT relating to auxiliary county police officers.
Amend KRS 15.380 to exempt unpaid members of an auxiliary county police force from the mandatory provisions of Kentucky's Peace Officer Professional Standards program; amend KRS 95.955 to exempt unpaid members of an auxiliary county police force from the Kentucky's mandatory law enforcement training provisions.
HB 397 - AMENDMENTS
HFA (1, R. Webb) - Amend KRS 95.955 to require auxiliary county police, appointed after the effective date of this Act, to successfully complete eighty (80) hours of basic training and forty (40) hours of annual training thereafter.
HFA (2, J. Wayne) - Amend KRS 95.955 to require auxiliary police officers, paid or unpaid, to meet the certification qualifications under KRS 15.382; require the local government to pay for certification costs incurred; remove language exempting unpaid members of an auxiliary county police force from certification to conform.
HFA (3, H. Anderson) - Amend to provide the auxiliary police officers who do not complete the training required by other peace officers lose their status as peace officers.
HFA (4, J. Bruce) - Include new section amending KRS 70.542 to require auxiliary county police officers to complete eighty hours of law enforcement training.
SCS - Amend bill to clarify that a paid or unpaid auxiliary county police force who are not certified shall be required to complete 80 hours training within 1 year of employment, and 40 hours annual training thereafter; require certification and consequent training for auxiliary county police force in counties containing a city of the first class or urban county government.
