AN ACT relating to state government employment.
Amend KRS 18A.150 to provide assistance to qualified veterans who are employed by the Commonwealth and are seeking employment in other classified state government positions; extend assistance to spouses of disabled or deceased veterans or to a dependent parent of a deceased veteran who died while on active duty; include granting qualified applicants an employment interview; makes other technical corrections.
HB 713 - AMENDMENTS
HFA (1, E. Ballard) - Amends this Act to remove the reference to "Kentucky" before "National Guard" to permit this Act to apply to a National Guard veteran who served from another state but is applying for a classified state government position in Kentucky; makes a technical correction to provide veteran preference points to entrance exam scores only where a test rating is required for the classification; amends KRS 18A.150, subsection (7) to require applicants provide a written request of the Personnel Cabinet to notify perspective state agency employers that the applicant qualifies for veteran preference under the provisions of this Act; amend language to "Offer" rather than "Grant" an interview for a position sought by the applicant; and makes other technical corrections.
