AN ACT relating to state officers and employees.
     Creates a new section of Subchapter 2 of KRS Chapter 154 to create the Department for Technology Development within the Cabinet for Economic Development; require that the department be headed by a commissioner who shall be exempt from the salary limitations set forth in KRS 64.640; amend KRS 64.640 to clarify that the compensation of officers or position heads of statutory departments, independent agencies, or other units of state government shall not exceed the total taxable compensation of the Governor derived from state sources; amend KRS 61.938 to allow the chief information officer to hire a deputy chief information officer who shall be exempt from the salary limitations set forth in KRS 64.640; amend KRS 154.10-050 to allow the secretary of the Cabinet for Economic Development to hire an executive administrator who shall be exempt from the salary limitations set forth in KRS 64.640; amend KRS 154.12-223 and KRS 154.12-225 to allow the commissioners for the Department of Community Development and the Department for Job Development within the Cabinet for Economic Development to be exempt from the salary limitations set forth in KRS 64.640; amend KRS 164.013 to allow the president of the Council of Postsecondary Education to designate no more than two positions for vice presidents and exempt them from the salary limitations set forth in KRS 64.640; amend KRS 164.800 to require the Council on Postsecondary Education to hire a president to oversee the Commonwealth Virtual University and be exempt from the salary limitations set forth in KRS 64.640; amend KRS 12.020 to conform.
