HB 896 (BR 1118) - J. Richards
AN ACT relating to the establishment of a program to encourage retirees to make their homes in Kentucky.
Create a new section of KRS Chapter 148 to create a Kentucky Certified Retirement Community Program in the Tourism Development Cabinet to encourage retirees to live in Kentucky; establish the mission of the program; require coordination with the Cabinet for Economic Development and the Office of Aging Services; establish requirements for communities to be certified as a Kentucky Certified Retirement Community; define what assistance the Tourism Development Cabinet shall provide to certified communities; provide that the Act shall be implemented by the Tourism Development Cabinet to the extent that appropriations from the General Assembly are available.
HB 896 - AMENDMENTS
HCA (1, J. Richards) - Add preamble; add health care services and other services necessary to enable persons to age in the least restrictive environment to the criteria used for certification of retirement communities; require coordination with the Kentucky Commission on Military Affairs and the Department of Veterans' Affairs; require that emergency medical services be accessible to certified communities; require communities to adopt a long term plan for maintaining its desirability as a destination for retirees, and require that the long range plan be submitted to the Tourism and Development Cabinet; require an annual evaluation and progress assessment for certified communities.
SCA (1, K. Stine) - Make technical corrections.
SFA (2, M. Long) - Add "Consumer protection relating to retirees" to the issues of interest to potential retirees and renumber paragraphs accordingly; add a new section of KRS Chapter 376 to establish a "zero call list" for persons over 70 years of age who do not want to receive telephone solicitations; create a new section of KRS Chapter 367 to make the foregoing an unfair trade practice.
SFA (3, M. Long) - Add "Consumer protection relating to retirees" to the issues of interest to potential retirees; add a new section of KRS Chapter 376 to establish, as a consumer protection measure for retirees who may retire in a Kentucky Certified Retirement Community, a "zero call list" for persons over 70 years of age who do not want to receive telephone solicitations; create a new section of KRS Chapter 367 to make the foregoing an unfair trade practice.
