HB 903 (BR 1836) - R. Palmer

     AN ACT relating to municipal colleges.
     Amend KRS 165.160 to allow a city of the third or fourth class to a establish a municipal college, under the control of a board of trustees appointed by the mayor and legislative body of the city; amend KRS 165.165 to permit a city of the third or fourth class to issue bonds for the benefit of a municipal college; amend KRS 165.180 to permit a city of the third or fourth class to devote any funds or properties from sources other than taxes to a municipal college; amend KRS 165.190 to permit the legislative body of a city of the third or fourth class to appropriate any public grounds for use by a municipal college; amend KRS 165.195 to permit the board of trustees of a municipal college in a city of the third or fourth class to acquire land for use by the college, and have the authority to condemn property as provided in the Eminent Domain Act of Kentucky.

HB 903 - AMENDMENTS


     HCA (1, R. Palmer) - Retain original provisions of HB 903, and create a new section of KRS Chapter 165 to declare the support of postsecondary education by a city through the appropriation of funds to be a public purpose; specify that the Council on Postsecondary Education will incur no obligation or liability from the provisions of this Act.
     SCA (1, R. Leeper) - Make technical corrections.
