AN ACT relating to teacher certification.
Amend KRS 161.030 to require testing of all out-of-state teachers regardless of the number of years taught; provide for a teacher intern appeal to the Education Professional Standards Board; eliminate a new teacher's option to serve his or her internship in a nonpublic school that does not meet the performance standards established by the Kentucky Board of Education, even if regionally or nationally accredited; require university and college faculty who are responsible for training teachers and administrators to serve on a beginning teacher committee at least once during an accreditation cycle; amend KRS 161.042 to require student teachers to be knowledgeable of and accountable for the teacher code of ethics; and make technical corrections to conform.
HB 956 - AMENDMENTS
HCS - Retain original provisions, except restore original language pertaining to permit interns to complete requirements in private and parochial schools that have national or regional accreditation; change requirement for out-of-state teachers to take tests from all to those with less than five years experience.
