AN ACT relating to motor carriers.
     Amend KRS 138.470 to exempt motor vehicles with a declared gross weight of more than 55,000 pounds from motor vehicle usage tax; amend KRS 186.056 to establish procedure by which usage tax is paid on vehicles whose declared gross weight is changed to under 55,000 pounds; amend KRS 138.660 to eliminate the weight distance tax on vehicles 60,000 pounds and greater; amend KRS 138.220 to raise the maximum supplemental highway user motor fuel tax for special fuels from 2 cents to 5 cents per gallon; amend KRS 186.050 to raise registration fees on trucks in excess of 55,000 pounds; make revisions to KRS 138.470 applicable to vehicles purchased on or after August 1, 2000; make revisions to KRS 138.220 and 138.660 effective October 1, 2000.
