SB 128 (BR 1755) - J. Pendleton
AN ACT relating to medical treatment of mentally ill persons.
Amend KRS 202A.161 to permit physician assistants and advanced registered nurse practitioners to complete initial examinations for persons admitted to mental hospitals or institutions.
SB 128 - AMENDMENTS
HCS - Retain original provisions except add that the initial examination of a person admitted under KRS Chapter 202A may be conducted by a physician assistant or an advanced registered nurse practitioner; create a new section of KRS Chapter 216B to permit a physician assistant or an advanced registered nurse practitioner to perform history and physical examination and to order and review the continuation of restraints and seclusion; require the history and physical examination to be current within 7 days and permit records of the history and examination to be transferred to another level of care within the same hospital; require administrative regulations by the Cabinet for Health Services to specify the content of the history and physical examination.
HFA (1, M. Marzian) - Make technical correction.
HFA (2, M. Marzian) - Clarify that physician assistants are credentialed, not licensed, and are a health care practitioners, not independent practitioners; make technical correction.
