SB 194 (BR 1694) - R. Roeding
AN ACT relating to deputy sheriffs.
Amend KRS 70.260 to allow deputy sheriff merit boards in all counties, rather than only in counties containing a city of the first class, to exclude policy making deputies from merit coverage.
SB 194 - AMENDMENTS
SCA (1, J. Rose) - Require a probationary period of employment following a deputy sheriff's initial appointment or a promotional appointment.
SCA (2/Title, J. Rose) - Make title amendment.
HFA (1, A. Simpson) - Add language to specify that a sheriff may, at his or her pleasure, revoke an initial appointment of a deputy within one year following the appointment; allow a sheriff, at his or her pleasure, to revoke a promotional appointment of a deputy who works for him or her at any time within one year following the promotional appointment and return the deputy to his or her previous position.
