AN ACT relating to the registration of motor vehicles.
Amend KRS 186.020, relating to registration requirements for motor vehicles, to require motor vehicles to be registered in the county of the person's residence; amend the following statutes to conform: KRS 186.180, relating to changing registration when moving between counties; KRS 186.190, relating to the transfer of registration upon transfer of ownership; KRS 186A.100, relating to temporary tags; KRS 186A.120, relating to initial application for title and registration; KRS 186A.220, relating to motor vehicle dealer requirements upon receipt of a vehicle; and KRS 186A.295, relating to owners required to surrender title on destroyed vehicles or trailers.
SB 398 - AMENDMENTS
SCS/LM - Delete Sections 1 to 4 and Sections 6 and 7 of the bill in their entirety; amend Section 5 to delete original provisions and instead require that when an application for title is presented to the county clerk of the county of the dealer's place of business rather than in the purchaser's county of residence, the money retained by the clerk shall be evenly divided between the clerks of the respective counties, and mandate that vehicles registered by a Kentucky owner who is not individual be registered in the county in which the owner resides.
