AN ACT relating to continuing education about acquired immunodeficiency syndrome.
Amend KRS 214.610 to require mandatory continuing HIV/AIDS education once every ten years for various professions and to permit the licensing board or certifying entity to determine whether to develop and approve the course; require cabinet to update any approved HIV/AIDS courses and contact appropriate professional associations, societies, and licensing or certifying entities; amend KRS 214.615 to permit licensing board or certifying entity to approve course to be required prior to licensure or certifications; amend KRS 214.620 to permit the licensing board or certifying entity to develop and approve its own instructional course to be required prior to licensure or certification.

HCA (1, J. Adams) - Retain original provisions, except clarify that the cabinet will approve, rather than implement, courses, and delete requirement that the cabinet consult with the colleges of medicine and allied health and the HIV/AIDS advisory council, and require the cabinet to approve courses in accordance with CDC guidelines; and require the department to publish on its web site the current informational resources for the development of the educational courses or programs.
