HB 199 (BR 466) - T. Burch, S. Riggs

     AN ACT relating to acts of terrorism involving chemical or biological agents.
     Amend KRS 39A.050 to place the responsibility of assessing Kentucky's risk and preparedness to respond to acts of terrorism involving chemical or biological agents and developing a statewide strategy under the Division of Emergency Management; amend KRS 39A.070 to require the director of the Division of Emergency Management of the Department of Military Affairs to complete a statewide assessment of risks and preparedness to respond to acts of terrorism involving chemical or biological agents, report the findings of the assessment to the Legislative Research Commission and to the Interim Joint Committee on Health and Welfare prior to October 1, 2001, and develop a statewide preparedness strategy to respond to acts of terrorism involving chemical or biological agents; create a new section of KRS 211.005 to 211.380 to require the commissioner of the Department for Public Health to collaborate with the Division of Emergency Management in assessing the preparedness of public health and other health care providers to respond to acts of terrorism involving chemical or biological agents and in developing a statewide response strategy.
