AN ACT relating to countywide telephone service.
     Amend KRS 278.545 to require that by August 1, 2002, the Public Service Commission not approve rate schedules for telephone companies which authorize separate long distance toll charges for calls between two or more telephone companies within the same county; require telephone companies that operate within the same area code to provide plans for local calling within given area code; and authorize the Public Service Commission to grant an extension of time to a telephone company to implement countywide and area-code-wide calling and authorize the Public Service Commission to enter into negotiations with telephone companies to implement countywide and area-code-wide calling.
