HB 23/FN (BR 169) - M. Cherry, S. Riggs

     AN ACT relating to the Crime Victims Compensation Board.
     Create a new section of KRS Chapter 346 to allow a one time payment for reimbursement of relocation expenses, up to $500, for victims of domestic violence or child abuse; create a new section of KRS Chapter 346 to provide that a claimant must have a minimum claim of $100 before applying for compensation from the Crime Victims Compensation Board; amend KRS 346.020 to include pedestrians among victims of crime and to delete the requirement that certain crime victims must be needy in order to receive compensation; amend KRS 346.080 to require that if the Attorney General or a claimant petitions the board to reconsider a final order of the board, then the board's final determination on reconsideration, and only that decision, may be appealed to Franklin Circuit Court; amend KRS 346.130 to provide for mileage reimbursement, possible limits on maximum rates for reimbursement of mental health services, and an increase in the amount of compensation for lost wages; amend KRS 346.140 to delete provisions allowing for reduction of the amount of an award where victim will not suffer financial hardship.
