     AN ACT relating to retirement.
     Amend KRS 61.640 to provide that Commonwealth's attorneys and assistant Commonwealth Attorneys who are killed or disabled in the line of duty receive retirement benefits the same as hazardous duty employees; amend KRS 61.702 to provide, in the same situations, retiree health coverage the same as hazardous duty employees.

HB 278 - AMENDMENTS


     HCS/AA - Delete original provisions; create a new section of Chapter 61.510 to 61.705 to provide that an employee of any state-administered retirement system who is killed or disabled due to a duty-related injury shall receive death and disability benefits equal to those granted to hazardous employees of KRS; amend KRS 61.702 to provide retiree health insurance benefits to the member, or beneficiaries, if member killed or disabled as a result of a duty-related injury; amend KRS 164.2841 and 164.2842 to waive college, university, or vocational education fees of eligible families whose parent or spouse is killed or disabled as a result of a duty-related injury.
     HFA (1, J. Comer) - Name Section 1 of the Act to be known as "The Fred Capps Memorial Act".
     HFA (2, J. Richards) - Create a new section of KRS 61.510 to 61.705 to provide that all service purchases through the Kentucky Retirement Systems after July 1, 2001, shall be at 100% of actuarial cost except under KRS 61.552(1) and (24) and KRS 61.592(3)(c) and amend KRS 16.645 and KRS 78. 545 to conform; amend KRS 61.510 and 78.510 to provide that the final average compensation for nonhazardous members retiring between August 1, 2001, and January 1, 2009, be based on the High 3 years.
