     AN ACT relating to retirement.
     Amend KRS 161.220(9) to require that a legislator or former legislator who qualifies under Section 2 of this Act, and who has participated in the teachers' retirement system, have his or her final average salary calculated under Section 2 of this Act, create a new section of KRS Chapter 161 to provide that within 90 days of the effective date of this Act; or within 30 days of being sworn in for the first time as a legislator, a current member of the General Assembly who is in the Teachers' Retirement System may elect to have employee and employer contributions under KRS 6.505 deducted and contributed to the Teachers' Retirement System; provide that upon retirement the legislator shall have the assumed salary for legislator under KRS 61.510(13) added to the members final average salary under KRS 161.220(9) and have the combined total serve as the member's final average salary for purposes of computing the member's retirement allowance.

HB 351 - AMENDMENTS


     HFA (1, B. Colter) - Amend KRS 161.605 to allow a retired member of the Kentucky Teacher's Retirement System who is reemployed after January 1, 2001, to not be required to waive their health insurance with the retirement system and require them to be entitled to receive both the state contribution from the system and their employer; require that any person who forfeited health coverage through the retirement system prior to the effective date of this Act shall be entitled to receive system coverage, as well as active coverage, and they shall receive reparation for benefits that were forfeited prior to the effective date of this Act; Amend KRS 18A.227 to allow a retired member any one (1) of the Kentucky Retirement Systems who is reemployed after January 1, 2001, who participates in a state-administered retirement system shall be entitled to receive both the state contribution from the system and their employer; require any person who was denied state contributions under this subsection between July 15, 2000 and the effective date of this Act shall be entitled to receive system coverage, as well as active coverage, and shall receive reparation for benefits that were forfeited prior to the effective date of this Act.
