HB 99 (BR 312) - T. McKee, J. Barrows, J. Callahan, M. Cherry, J. Reinhardt

     AN ACT relating to telecommunications.
     Amend various sections of KRS Chapter 65, relating to wireless emergency 911 systems, to apportion funds among local entities using numbers of subscribers rather than number of calls made; to allow Commercial Mobile Radio Service funds to be used for training and public education; and to permit use of subscriber names and addresses to be used for the purposes of collecting the service charge from delinquent subscribers.

HB 99 - AMENDMENTS


     HCS - Amend KRS 65.7629, relating to the Commercial Mobile Radio Service Emergency Telecommunications (CMRS) board, to give the board responsibility for selecting a method for reimbursing PSAPs according to workload; amend KRS 65.7631 to allow CMRS fund moneys to be used for implementing this method of disbursement; to allow merging PSAPs a grace period during which they will continue to receive the pro-rata shares of all elements involved in the merger; to prohibit payment to wireless providers if they are not in compliance with KRS chapter 65 and the FCC order; amend KRS 65.7639 to permit disclosure of user information for the purpose of collecting the service charge.
