AN ACT relating to rural health care.
Amend KRS 164.937 to require the University of Kentucky to maintain the Center of Excellence in Rural Health; require the center to: support staff, gather statistical information about rural health and workforce availability, provide educational opportunities to students committed to rural health service, and maintain family practice residences; serve as the designated office of rural health; and advocate for rural health care; permit the establishment of additional sites to the extent additional funds are appropriated; and provide that nothing in the bill shall be construed to restrict the study of rural health policies, workforce analyses, or the training of health professionals in or for rural or medically underserved areas by other state universities.
