SB 166 (BR 1416) - L. Casebier, D. Williams

     AN ACT relating to the consequences of death.
     Amend KRS 213.991 to establish a fine of one hundred dollars ($100) a day for a physician, chiropractor, dentist, or other authorized person who fails to sign the death certificate within five (5) days after receiving the death certificate; and amend KRS 316.125 to require a funeral establishment license to sell caskets.

SB 166 - AMENDMENTS


     SCS - Delete Section 1 of the bill and retain Section 2 which requires a funeral establishment license to sell caskets.
     SFA (1, L. Casebier) - Amend to make provisions for persons not operating licensed funeral establishments to obtain a special funeral establishment license to sell caskets or outer burial containers; make provisions for the board to make periodic inspections to assure compliance; define "outer burial containers" and "funeral goods".
     SFA (2/Title, L. Casebier) - Make title amendment.
     SFA (3, L. Casebier) - Delete requirement that sellers of caskets be licensed, require that sellers of funeral goods disclose a general price list of funeral good to customers, authorize the Kentucky Board of Embalmers and Funeral Directors to require disclosure of information by funeral goods sellers, provide for periodic inspection of funeral goods sellers, authorize an action for injunctive relief for failure to disclose prices of funeral goods to consumers.
