SCR 83 (BR 1490) - A. Kerr

     Create the E.L.E.C.T. (Equitable Lines Elevating Community Ties) Task Force as a subcommittee of the Interim Joint Committee on State Government; specify that the responsibilities of the task force are to ascertain communities of interest and seek public comments relating to congressional and state legislative redistricting; designate the co-chairs of the Interim Joint Committee on State Government as co-chairs of the task force; provide for the President of the Senate and Speaker of the House of Representatives to each appoint 6 members of their respective chambers, 3 from the majority party and 3 from the minority party, to the task force; require the President and Speaker to appoint members of the Interim Joint Committee on State Government; direct the task force to hold a minimum of 6 meetings, one in each congressional district, between April 30 and June 29, 2001; require hearings to be recorded; deem records of the hearings and documents presented to the task force public records; require maintenance of task force records until completion of redistricting after the 2010 U.S. Census; require maintenance of task force until completion of redistricting after 2000 U.S. Census; declare EMERGENCY.
