AN ACT relating to the commemoration of Kentucky Vietnam War POW/MIA's.
Create a new section of KRS Chapter 42 to require the Department of Military Affairs to update the plaque at the base of the Freedom Tree near the Floral Clock to reflect the most recent official accounting of Kentucky Vietnam War POW/MIAs; require the plaque to contain a depiction of the POW/MIA flag; require the Department of Military Affairs to design the new plaque and pay for it out of funds appropriated to the department; direct the Department of Facilities Management to maintain the plaque and the tree.
HB 583 - AMENDMENTS
HCS - Retain provisions of the original bill except delete all references to the Department of Military Affairs and replace with the Department of Veterans' Affairs; allow the Department of Veterans' Affairs to receive appropriations, gifts, grants, federal funds, and other public and private funds to defray the cost of updating the plaque; require the Department of Facilities Management to prepare a new base for the plaque and install the plaque; require the Department of Veterans' Affairs reimburse the Department of Facilities Management for the cost of installation.
