     AN ACT relating to the Kentucky Military Heritage Act.
     Create new sections of KRS Chapter 171 to establish the Military Heritage Commission and charge the commission with designation and protection of military heritage sites and military heritage objects; define prohibited and permitted activities with regard to military heritage sites and military heritage objects; establish penalty.

HB 62 - AMENDMENTS


     HCS/LM/CI - Retain the provisions of the bill, except: permit the Kentucky Heritage Council to receive administrative aid from the Kentucky Historical Society; place the Director of the Kentucky Historical Society and the executive director of the Commission on Military Affairs on the Kentucky Military Heritage Commission; change the penalty for damaging or destroying a military heritage site or object from a Class D felony to a Class A misdemeanor for a first offense and a Class D felony for each subsequent offense.

     HCA (1, M. Weaver) - Add the Director of the Kentucky Historical Society to the membership of the Kentucky Military Heritage Commission and add the Historical Society as an agency lending support to the commission.

     HFA (1, R. Damron) - Change "chairman" to "executive director" of Military Affairs.

     HFA (2, R. Damron) - Amend penalties in Section 5 to provide that a first offense will be a Class A misdemeanor and each subsequent offense will be a Class D felony.
