AN ACT relating to transient room tax.
Amend KRS 91A.390 to allow cities of the first class, if approved by the local governing body, to impose an additional tax of 1.5% of room rent; amend KRS 91A.392 to conform.
HB 679 - AMENDMENTS
HCS - Permit a county containing a city of the first class instead of a city of the first class to impose an additional 1 1/2% transient room tax for the additional promotion of tourism and convention business as prescribed.
SFA (1, T. Shaughnessy) - Amend to provide that a county with a city of the first class may impose an additional room tax not to exceed either 1.5% to be used for the purpose of funding additional promotion of tourist and convention business or 5.5% of which 1.5% to be used for the purpose of funding additional promotion of tourist and convention business and 4.0% to be used for a downtown arena for the University of Louisville.
SFA (2, T. Shaughnessy) - Amend to provide that a county with a city of the first class may impose an additional room tax not to exceed either 1.5% to be used for the purpose of funding additional promotion of tourist and convention business or 5.5% of which 1.5% to be used for the purpose of funding additional promotion of tourist and convention business and 4.0% to be used for a downtown arena for the University of Louisville.
SFA (3, G. Neal) - Permit county with a city of the first class to levy an additional 1/2 % transient room tax for the funding of the African American Heritage Museum.
SFA (4, T. Shaughnessy) - Amend to provide that a county with a city of the first class may impose an additional room tax not to exceed either 1.5% to be used for the purpose of funding additional promotion of tourist and convention business or 5.5% of which up to 1.5% is to be used for the purpose of funding additional promotion of tourist and convention business and the excess to be used for a downtown arena for the University of Louisville.
