AN ACT relating to death benefits for police and firefighters in cities of the third class.
Amend KRS 95.570 to allow cities of the third class to purchase group life insurance to pay the widow, widower, or family of police and firefighters a death benefit sum of not more than ten thousand dollars ($10,000).
SB 101 - AMENDMENTS
SCS - Retain original provisions; amend KRS 95.865 to allow cities of the second class to purchase group life insurance to pay the widow, widower, or family of police and firefighters a death benefit sum of not more than $10,000; permit the board of trustees of a pension fund to purchase group life insurance to assist in the funding of said death benefit.
SCA (1/Title, A. Robinson) - Make title amendment.
HFA (1, A. Arnold) - Add KRS 61.315 to increase the death benefits paid to emergency services personnel from $50,000 to $75,000 and include civilian firefighters on military bases, and create a new section of KRS Chapter 95A to provide for the payment and administration of payments of $200 monthly for each category of health and life insurance for permanently and totally disabled firefighters.
