SB 164 (BR 1763) - B. Guthrie, E. Miller, C. Borders, V. Moore, R. Roeding

     AN ACT relating to the use of national accreditation for hospital licensure.
     Create a new section of KRS Chapter 216B to require the Office of the Inspector General to accept accreditation by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare organizations or another approved accrediting organization as evidence of meeting licensing inspection requirements for hospitals; require that an inspection not be conducted if the Office of the Inspector General receives a copy of the report within 30 days or documentation of full accreditation by the hospital; prohibit the provisions of this section from preventing other investigations that the Office of the Inspector General deems necessary; require accredited hospitals to pay the required licensing fees; require new hospitals to undergo on-site inspections for licensure; require the Office of the Inspector General to make decision letters and surveys available to the public; require the cabinet to promulgate administrative regulations consistent with the requirements of approved accrediting organizations when possible.
