AN ACT relating to driver licensing.
Amend KRS 186.412, regarding operator's licenses, to require the circuit clerk to administer vision exams to all applicants for an initial or renewal operator's license; require State Police to promulgate administrative regulations specifying vision standards for receiving an operator's license; specify that initial applicants who fail the vision test not be issued an operator's license; specify that renewal applicants who fail the vision test be issued a new license and that the circuit clerk immediately notify the Transportation Cabinet of the failure; require the Transportation Cabinet to notify a person who fails a vision exam upon renewal that the person has 15 days to retake and pass the test or provide medical evidence that the person's vision meets the standard; require the Transportation Cabinet to suspend the license of those who do not provide evidence or pass the retest; mandate that licenses suspended under the subsection not be reinstated until the persons proves that his or her vision meets the standards; mandate the transfer of vision screening machines currently used by the State Police to the Transportation Cabinet, to be redistributed to circuit clerk's offices.
