HB 136 (BR 398) - J. Comer, C. Embry Jr

     AN ACT relating to independent candidates for office.
     Amend KRS 83A.045 to change filing deadline for independent candidates for office to the Tuesday before the primary election; amend KRS 118.365 to change filing deadline for independent candidates for office to the Tuesday prior to the primary election.

HB 136 - AMENDMENTS


     HCS - Retain original provisions, except make effective date January 1, 2004.

     SFA (1, A. Robinson) - Create a new section of KRS Chapter 118 to require a statement of candidacy form for independent candidates; establish procedures for filing the form; require the State Board of Elections to prescribe the form; amend KRS 118.365 to prohibit the acceptance of petitions of nomination for independent candidates, if a statement of candidacy form has not been filed.
