AN ACT relating to court-appointed special advocate programs.
Create a new section of KRS 620.500 to 620.550 to establish a Commonwealth CASA fund; amend KRS 620.505 to change the number of cases per supervisory staff person to 30; amend KRS 620.515 to change the minimum age for CASA volunteers to 21 and the minimum number of training hours to 30; and amend various sections in KRS 620.500 to 620.550, relating to court appointed special advocate programs, to conform and to provide for family court divisions of the Circuit Court to oversee CASA programs.
HB 193 - AMENDMENTS
HCS - Remove Section 1 relating to the state fund and make amendments to conform; amend subsection (3) of new Section 2 to provide that local CASA programs shall also comply with state CASA standards, and to provide that one supervisory staff person will be provided for every thirty CASA volunteers that have been appointed by the court rather than for every thirty cases to which a volunteer has been assigned; and amend new Section 7 to provide that the state board rather than the Administrative Office of the Courts may hire a state director.
HFA (1, M. Denham) - Delete subsection (4) from Section 6 relating to annual financial reports of the state association to the Interim Joint Committee on Appropriations and Revenue; delete subsection (2)(g) from Section 7 relating to the state director's duty to coordinate funding for local CASA programs.
