HB 208 (BR 445) - S. Brinkman
AN ACT relating to the annexation of a city of the fifth class.
Amend KRS 81A.530 to permit a city of the fifth class to be annexed by a city of the third, fourth, or fifth class as prescribed if the cities share a common boundary, they enact identical ordinances relating to the annexation and a majority of the residents of the city to be annexed approve the annexation either by petition or public referendum; require all assets and liabilities of the city of the fifth class being annexed to become those of the annexing city; require the city clerk of the fifth class city being dissolved to notify the Secretary of State of the dissolution as prescribed; require the area of the city of the fifth class being annexed to assume the local option status of the annexing city.
HB 208 - AMENDMENTS
HCS - Permit cities of the 2nd class to merge with other cities as prescribed, and insert "merger" in lieu of "annexation" throughout the bill to clarify the procedure.
