HB 258 (BR 1212) - J. Jenkins

     AN ACT relating to advertisements for bids.
     Amend KRS 424.260 to allow local governments to use the Internet or newspapers for the advertisement of bids for materials, supplies, and equipment.

HB 258 - AMENDMENTS


     HFA (1, S. Lee) - Amend HB 258 to add language that creates new sections of KRS Chapter 160 relating to the annual preparation and publishing of financial statements of school districts; allow publication in newspapers or the internet; specify requirements for newspaper publication; direct boards of education to publish the school district budget for the succeeding fiscal year that has been approved by the Kentucky Board of Education as provided in KRS 160.470; amend KRS 160.463, 157.630, 160.990, 424.110, 424.220, 424.990 to conform; repeal 424.250.

     HFA (2/Title, S. Lee) - Make title amendment.

     HFA (3, J. Jenkins) - Delete original provisions; add new subsection to Section 1 to allow local air boards formed under KRS Chapter 183 to advertise for bids as required in subsection (1) of KRS 424.260 by newspaper or by Internet; create a new section of KRS Chapter 183 to allow local air boards formed under Chapter 183 to advertise for bids by newspaper or Internet in accordance with the provisions of Section 1 of this Act.

     HFA (4, S. Riggs) - Retain original provisions; specify that the exclusive use of Internet advertisements shall be limited to situations where the materials, supplies, or contracted services cannot be purchased or obtained locally as determined by the local purchasing official.
