HB 492 (BR 1642) - B. Yonts

     AN ACT relating to livestock disease control.
     Create a new section of KRS Chapter 257.010 to 257.315 to exempt horses originating within the state of Kentucky, including foals accompanied by their dams, offered for sale, traded, given away, leased, moved for the purpose of change of ownership, or offered for exhibit, including entry into fairgrounds, livestock show grounds, public boarding stables, trail rides, or racing within the State from the required testing for equine infectious anemia (EIA); require all horses moving into or through the state to test negative for EIA or show proof thereof; require all horses testing positive for EIA within the state to comply with all administrative regulations promulgated by the Kentucky Department of Agriculture or the State Board of Agriculture relating to the isolation, quarantine, movement, control and euthanization of diseased animals; amend KRS 257.010 to define, "equine infectious anemia", "stockyards", " approved stockyard", "chief livestock health official", and " veterinarian-in-charge."
