HB 178 (BR 905) - T. Burch

     AN ACT relating to emergency medical services.
     Amend KRS 311A.015 to require that the emergency medical services educator on the Kentucky Board of Emergency Medical Services be certified; require the board to elect a chair and vice chair in the first meeting of the board after September 1 of each year; amend KRS 311A.020 to clarify that the board shall be a partner with other state agencies in the development, implementation, and oversight of trauma systems; amend KRS 311A.050 to delete the requirement for licensed or certified individuals to report to the board when another licensed or certified individual is in violation of board policies; amend KRS 311A.055 to change membership of the preliminary inquiry board to consist of one member of the board selected by the chair and two representing the same category of licensure as the defendant who is not a member of the board; amend KRS 311A.060 to require that the office of the board receive an acceptable plan of correction when disciplining any entity regulated by the board; amend KRS 311A.075 to provide that a determination for immediate suspension shall be made by the state medical advisor and two other members of the board rather than requiring a physician from the board; amend KRS 311A.125 to clarify that the board need not approve continuing education training provided by a licensed ambulance service to anyone certified or licensed by the board; and amend KRS 311A.180 to provide that medical control documents be subject to administrative regulations promulgated by the board.

HB 178 - AMENDMENTS


     HFA (1, R. Damron) - Retain original provisions, add section requiring the Kentucky Board of Emergency Medical Services to promulgate administrative regulations for first responders, emergency medical technicians, and paramedics; require administrative regulations to be promulgated prior to 90 days following effective date of this Act.
