HB 78 (BR 350) - C. Embry Jr

     AN ACT relating to coroners.
     Create a new section of KRS Chapter 72 to require coroners to report deaths that result from the presence of drugs or poisons in the body to the Office of Vital Statistics.

HB 78 - AMENDMENTS


     HCA (1, C. Embry Jr) - Amend to allow laboratory examination in the determination of deaths caused by drugs or poisons; amend to delete the provisions that coroners shall report deaths caused by drugs or poisons occurring during the preceding month and provide that the report shall be made the month following the completion of the post-mortem examination or laboratory examination.

     HFA (1, B. Yonts) - Retain the original provisions of the bill; create a new section of KRS Chapter 189A to require peace officers to cause the testing of blood, breath, or urine, or a combination thereof, of a person believed to be operating a motor vehicle when the vehicle is involved in an accident that results in death or serious physical injury to determine the presence and concentration of alcohol or any substance that may impair driving; create a penalty for refusal of testing.
