SB 17 (BR 296) - J. Westwood

     AN ACT relating to massage therapy.
     Amend KRS 309.350 to change definition for practice of massage therapy; amend KRS 309.353 to delete language regarding unlawful providers of massage therapy; amend KRS 309.355 to delete language regarding board's authority to issue civil and criminal penalties; amend KRS 309.363 to delete language allowing institutions and business entities to apply to the board for massage therapy program of instruction certification; add language to allow "any person" to apply; delete language requiring the Kentucky State Board for Proprietary Education to license a massage therapy program; repeal KRS 309.360 regarding licenses issued prior to June 24, 2005.

SB 17 - AMENDMENTS


     SCS - Retain original provisions of bill, except amend KRS 309.355 to give the board subpoena power; amend KRS 309.363 to restore deleted language to authorize the Council on Postsecondary Education or equivalent to license massage therapy schools, to increase required curriculum hours of instruction from 500 to 600 and include study in kinesiology, client documentation, modality, and pathology, and to allow the school to determine coursework for 35 hours; amend KRS 309.358 to restore deleted language; create new section to determine fines and sanctions; and amend KRS 309.360 to restore repealed language.

     HFA (1/P, J. Carr) - Retain original provisions; add provisions of HB 306 relating to indecent and immoral practices.

     HFA (2/Title, J. Carr) - Make title amendment.
