AN ACT relating to teachers' salaries and making an appropriation therefor.
Create a new section of KRS Chapter 157 to express the General Assembly's findings and goals relating to teachers' salaries; amend KRS 157.420 to specify cost-of-living increases for 2006-2007 and 2007-2008 school terms; appropriate $53 million in fiscal year 2006-2007 and $106 milllion in fiscal year 2007-2008 for salary equity; amend KRS 157.350 to delete specific reference to 185-day calendar; make changes to conform.
HB 1 - AMENDMENTS
HCS/FN - Retain original provisions; amend the cost-of-living adjustment made in fiscal year 2006-2007 from at least 3 percent to at least 2 percent of the average Kentucky teacher's salary in fiscal year 2005-2006; delete appropriation for salary equity increases in fiscal year 2006-2007; amend amount appropriated for teacher salary equity increases from $106,000,000 to $72,000,000 in fiscal year 2007-2008.
HFA (1, H. Moberly Jr) - Amend language relating to the cost-of-living adjustment for teachers to provide that the adjustment equal at least $1,500 for each certified employee; amend language relating to salary equity increases to provide that the increase must equal at least $1,500 for each certified employee.
