HB 142 (BR 972) - S. Baugh
AN ACT relating to preneed funeral service or burial contracts.
Amend KRS 367.934 to require a preneed burial contract agent to produce a certified state registrar death verification concerning a person in order to receive trust funds from a financial institution under a preneed funeral service or burial contract for the service for that person; amend KRS 367.942 to direct preneed burial contract agent licensees to maintain a certified state registrar death verification of each person for whose service the licensee received funds from the financial institution trustee, subject to examination by an authorized representative of the Attorney General's office.
HB 142 - AMENDMENTS
HCS - Retain original provisions of the Act; allow use of a verified copy of a record of death and a provisional report of death; apply provisions to a life insurer if life insurance or annuity benefits are used to fund preneed funeral contracts or prearrangements.
SCS - Retain original provisions; change "provisional report of death" to "provisional certificate of death as defined in KRS 213.076."
