HB 197 (BR 274) - J. Draud
     AN ACT relating to end-of-course examinations.
    	Create a new section of KRS Chapter 158 to define core courses; require that the Kentucky Department of Education begin developing standardized end-of-course examinations in Algebra I, Algebra II and Geometry and pilot the tests at the end of the 2007-2008 academic year; require that these tests be administered in all public schools in 2008-2009 and thereafter; require reports to the Interim Joint Committee on Education and the Education Assessment and Accountability Review Subcommittee.
HB 197 - AMENDMENTS
     HCS - Retain original provisions, except delete requirement that end-of-course exams be used in all public schools in 2008-2009; require a majority of the test developers to be content teachers; eliminate references to use of end-of-course exams for high school graduation; prohibit scores on end-of-course exams as a criterion for a teacher's formal evaluation or for pay during the pilot period; require that the commissioner of education report the findings from the pilot study and policy options to the Interim Joint Committee on Education: amend KRS 158.647 to specify that the Education Assessment and Accountability Review Subcommittee (EAARS) review proposals relating to end-of-course exams.
