HB 449 (BR 1507) - T. Pullin, A. Wuchner
AN ACT relating to postsecondary education.
Amend KRS 164.746 and 164A.050 to require that members of the board of directors of the Kentucky Student Loan Corporation shall also serve as the board of directors of the Kentucky Higher Education Assistance Authority; specify responsibilities and duties of board members; provide for the continuation of terms for those serving as board members at the effective date of this Act; specify the procedures for reappointments or filling vacancy by term expiration of a member serving on a board at the effective date of this Act; specify that the board shall employ an executive director of the Kentucky Student Loan Corporation who shall also serve as the executive director for the authority; amend KRS 164A.701 to clarify that the purchase of a prepaid tuition account by a member of the board of directors or designation of a family member of a member of the board of directors as a qualified beneficiary under a prepaid tuition contract is not a conflict of interest.
HB 449 - AMENDMENTS
HFA (1, T. Pullin) - Make technical corrections.
SCA (1, K. Winters) - Add new section dealing with Kentucky tuition grant to require that students be enrolled in a Kentucky independent college or university which is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools rather than by any regional accrediting association recognized by the United States Department of Education; provide that students enrolled between July 1, 2003 and the effective date of this Act in a Kentucky independent college or university that is accredited by a regional accrediting association may remain eligible until a bachelor's degree is attained or until July 1, 2010.
