HB 681 (BR 1962) - T. Thompson

     AN ACT relating to workers' compensation.
     Amend KRS 342.020 relating to medical benefits for workers' compensation to require employers to pay medical benefits for the duration of the disability in total disability awards or claims involving the need for prosthetic appliances; limit employer liability for medical services to 520 weeks in permanent partial disability claims with a 50% or greater disability rating, but allow the employee to make application for an extension of services for an additional 520 weeks; limit employer liability for medical services to 425 weeks in all other claims, but allow an employee to make application for an extension of medical services for an additional 425 weeks; require an ALJ to review the application for reasonableness and necessity for extending medical services; require in all claims that an employer's liability to pay for medical services shall terminate when the employee qualifies for Medicare benefits or reaches 65 years of age, whichever occurs later; and amend KRS 342.990 to conform.
