HB 710 (BR 1816) - H. Collins

AN ACT relating to transportation.
Amend various sections of KRS Chapter 189 , regarding traffic regulations, to modify and update traffic laws to comply with the uniform vehicle code; amend KRS 177.315, regarding access permits, to eliminate the maximum variance allowed from statutory spacing requirements; amend KRS 177.240, regarding rest areas on interstates, to eliminate the requirement that if a rest area is closed, a new one must be opened within 15 miles of the old site; amend KRS 186.405 and 186.410 to change references to "nondriver ID cards" to "personal ID cards"; amend KRS 189A.345 to correct a statutory citation error; amend KRS 189.280, 189.990, and 189.993 to conform; repeal KRS 189.490 and KRS 189.630.

HB 710 - AMENDMENTS

     HCS - Retain the original provisions of the bill with the following exception: delete section on reducing weight limits per tire inch; delete changes in operating rules for motorcycles; renumber section references.

     HFA (1, J. DeCesare) - Amend HCS to clarify that a center lane on a highway restricted to left turns may be used as a merging lane by individuals turning onto the highway from a collector road.

     HFA (2, J. DeCesare) - Amend HCS to clarify that a center lane on a highway restricted to left turns may be used as a merging lane by individuals turning onto the highway from a side road or other entrance.
